Positive Behaviour for Learning

In 2020 St Francis Xavier School introduced a program called Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL). PBL is an evidence-based whole school framework that actively promotes positive behaviour.

PBL includes … proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviours to create positive school environments … a continuum of positive behaviour support for all students within a school is implemented in areas including the classroom and non-classroom settings (such as hallways, buses and restrooms)… (PBL) enhances the capacity of schools, families and communities to design effective environments …for learning and teaching.  (https://www.pbis.org/school)

It enables students to develop a clear understanding of required expectations, to become responsible for their own behaviour and to work together to create a positive, productive and harmonious learning community.

We explicitly teach Positive Behaviour for Learning from Foundation to Year 6.  During these lessons students learn more about our three foci which encompass all expectations for our community relationships and for learning:

Be Safe | Be Respectful | Be Responsible
